Working with Rights Management (RMS) Data

Rights management data lists information about copyrights, contracts, and Correlation approvals (both product and visual identify [VIO] certifications) and is automatically imported each night from the Rights Management System (RMS). When you add an asset, the IP code from RMS is listed when you indicate either an associated contract number, RS-statement, or certification number. An asset must have an IP code or certification before it can be published. Note: Intellectual Property (IP) Administrators can override and assign an IP code or add usage terms, if needed.

Viewing Rights Management Data

Because the metadata comes from the RMS database, you cannot edit the data. If there is an error, it will need to be fixed in RMS by an administrator. For explanations of the metadata fields, see Rights Management Metadata.

  1. On the left-side, click the Browse () icon.

  2. Click Domain.

  3. Click Master Data.

  4. Click RMS Data. A list of rights management items will appear.

  5. Find and select the item you want to view. The metadata for that item will be displayed.

    • If desired, on the right, click the gear (Gear icon) icon to change the column headers (or metadata) to view in the list. Check or uncheck the items you want to view and click Close. Tip: To have more space to view product or contract names, uncheck some columns to view a longer title.
    • You can click a column arrow (Column arrow) to resort the list in either ascending or descending order.
    • You can filter the list by selecting or entering a search term in a column header. Note: For titles, enter the first few letters, such as Ens for Ensign 2016 or Ensign 2020.
